Megan and Graham traveled all the way from the East Coast for their destination wedding in Colorado. Like many couples planning a mountain wedding, they dreamed of celebrating with their closest friends and family surrounded by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. With its modern architecture, warm wood tones, and incredible views, The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn was the perfect place to bring that vision to life.
One of the things I love most about this Estes Park wedding venue is how much space it offers for getting ready. Megan and her bridesmaids spent the morning together at the venue, enjoying the mountain views and the excitement of the day ahead. At one point Megan stepped outside onto the patio to reveal her dress to her bridesmaids, who were already gathered outside taking in the scenery. As soon as they saw her, they erupted with excitement—and Megan playfully flexed her muscles while everyone cheered.
It was the perfect start to such a joyful day.
Some of my favorite moments happened before the ceremony even began. Megan’s mom helped zip up her dress while her dad watched nearby, already getting emotional. Shortly after, Megan shared a first look with her dad, and it was one of the sweetest moments of the day. He was instantly teary as soon as he saw her.
Megan and Graham also chose to do a first look together before the ceremony. When Graham turned around and saw Megan for the first time, he immediately started tearing up as well. The quiet moment they shared together before the celebration began was so genuine and heartfelt.
Their wedding took place in mid-September, which meant we were lucky enough to see the first hints of fall color appearing around Estes Park. A few maple trees had already begun turning shades of orange, adding the perfect seasonal touch to their portraits.
Megan carried one of the most stunning bouquets I’ve ever seen by Statice Floral. It was beautifully oversized—honestly almost bigger than she was—and filled with soft, romantic blooms that perfectly complemented the mountain setting.
Her bridesmaids wore one of my favorite color palettes: varying shades of green. Some dresses were solid, others had floral patterns, and the mix looked incredible together. It felt organic, fresh, and perfectly suited to a Colorado mountain wedding.
The groomsmen kept things timeless in classic black tuxes, which always look elegant and photograph beautifully.
Colorado weather can be unpredictable, and just before the ceremony the rain began to fall. Thankfully, this is exactly where The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn truly shines as a venue.
Guests were already seated in the covered ceremony space, and Megan and Graham simply stepped inside beneath the awning while the venue’s large glass doors were closed. The rain stayed outside, the guests remained comfortable, and the mountains were still fully visible through the glass.
It created the most beautiful, intimate atmosphere for their vows.
One of my favorite moments happened right after the ceremony. As Megan and Graham walked back down the aisle as newlyweds, Megan was absolutely overflowing with excitement. She had her mouth open, cheering and celebrating with pure joy. It was such a fun and genuine moment.
The reception design was truly unforgettable, thanks to planner Jen with Aspen & Ivy Events. Every detail felt thoughtful and artistic.
The tables were set with green and white patterned napkins that almost resembled a piece of artwork—something between a map and an abstract print. Paired with dark glassware, lush florals, and soft candlelight, the entire space felt warm and inviting inside the venue’s beautiful wood interior.
There was also a donut wall, a stunning wedding cake, and so many unique design elements that made the reception feel both elegant and fun.
As the rain passed, we stepped outside for a few sunset portraits. The warm wood exterior of the venue created the perfect backdrop, glowing in the evening light. Megan and Graham walked together with the mountains behind them while the sun filtered through Megan’s veil.
It was the kind of Colorado mountain evening that feels almost unreal.
Once the dancing started, the party truly began. Megan and Graham’s friends absolutely brought the energy to the dance floor. One of the cutest moments throughout the night was Megan playfully tugging on Graham’s suspenders while they danced together.
Their signature cocktail was even named after their cat, Bella—appropriately called “The Bella.”
It was such a fun and personal detail that perfectly reflected their personalities.
