Woodlands Colorado is one of the most stunning wedding venues near Denver. With sweeping foothill views, a crisp white barn, and 52 acres of perfectly curated space, you and your guests are sure to be wowed. It’s about 30 minutes from downtown Denver and a quick trip from DIA. And trust me, your guests will appreciate that.
For couples who want the beauty of a Colorado outdoor wedding without sending everyone deep into the mountains, this place is perfect. Plopped right down in beautiful Morrison, Colorado, you’ll soon see why we love it here so much!
Woodlands has become my home away from home. I’ve photographed 25 weddings here so far! I adore the team, and every time I’m back on the property, I remember why it’s such a favorite.
If I had to describe the ideal Woodlands couple, it would be this: chic, elevated, outdoorsy.
This venue is perfect for couples who:
It’s also a great fit for guest counts up to 200 people, which gives you flexibility without feeling overwhelming.
One of the biggest reasons I love photographing weddings at Woodlands is how many actually good photo spots there are.
The ceremony space sits overlooking the foothills, and it’s just… stunning. Clean, open, and Colorado in the best way.
It’s also one of my favorite places to take family photos right after the ceremony because:

Just below the ceremony space, there’s a small footpath that leads into a wooded area with these iconic rocks.
This is hands-down one of my favorite photo locations at Woodlands.
It’s perfect for:
The light filters through the trees in the prettiest way, and it gives you a totally different vibe than the open ceremony space.
The greenhouse is one of the newer additions, and it’s such a good one.
It’s located between the bridal cottage and the barn, and it’s beautiful both inside and out. Think soft light, clean structure, and a slightly editorial feel. Perfect for a first look with dad or a romantic sweetheart location for you and your partner at sunset.

I will never get over a crisp white backdrop.
The front of the barn (especially along the sidewalk) is such a clean, modern place for portraits. It photographs beautifully and gives you that bright, timeless look.
The bridal cottage is tucked away just a short walk from the barn, and it’s perfect for getting ready in peace.
What I love about it:
There’s also a lavender garden right outside that blooms in July and August, and it is so pretty in photos.
It’s also a great spot for family photos before the ceremony since it’s private and a little removed from the main event space.
There’s also a second getting ready space inside the barn with blue walls and a more laid-back vibe. It even has a pool table which makes it a fun spot for your partner and wedding party to hang out before everything starts.
The barn at Woodlands is whitewashed with vaulted ceilings, and it feels completely different from the typical dark wood barn.
Instead of feeling heavy, it’s:
The white walls also reflect light beautifully, which makes a huge difference in your photos, especially during receptions.
Cocktail hour typically happens just around the corner of the barn in a shaded outdoor space.
There’s an indoor-outdoor bar setup, plenty of coverage from the roof overhang, and it flows really naturally from ceremony → cocktails → reception.
Most couples here choose to keep things outdoors (even if there’s a slight chance of weather), and honestly… I don’t blame them.
You’re paying for this view. You might as well use it.
One of the underrated things about Woodlands is how consistent it looks throughout the year.
Because the property is surrounded by evergreen trees, it never feels dead or brown like some Colorado venues can in the off-season.
It stays green, fresh, and photo-ready no matter when you’re getting married.
Woodlands is owned by Janelle and Stephen, and they are truly some of the kindest people. They care deeply about the experience and are often present, helping wherever they’re needed throughout the day.
And then there’s Tory, the in-house coordinator! You’re not required to use her, but I would highly recommend it. She goes above and beyond for her couples, keeps everything running smoothly, and is just genuinely amazing to work with.
(Also… not to brag, but I photographed her wedding, so I’m a little biased in the best way.)
Woodlands is a great venue for a fun, high-impact grand exit.
Some popular options:
Both photograph really well here and give you that perfect ending to the night without needing anything overly complicated.
Woodlands can host weddings with up to 200 guests. Most weddings at Woodlands are in the 120 – 150 guest range.
Events must end by 10:00 PM due to county noise ordinances. Vendor cleanup typically continues until 11:00 PM.
Yes. It’s located in Morrison, Colorado, about 30 minutes from downtown Denver and an easy trip from DIA, which is a huge plus for guests traveling in.
Yes. There are two getting ready areas:
Absolutely. Most couples choose to have their ceremony and much of their day outdoors to take full advantage of the views.
Woodlands is beautiful year-round thanks to the evergreen trees. Summer brings lavender blooms, while fall and winter still maintain a lush, green backdrop.
Yes, animal lovers welcome! Your dog is welcome to join your outdoor ceremony and family photos on the lawn. Have a friend take them home or there are plenty of doggie services in Denver that would love to take care of your pup while you enjoy the party!
