Ronnie and Eli planned a beautiful destination wedding in the mountains of Colorado, choosing the Vail Golf and Nordic Clubhouse for their celebration. With breathtaking views, wide open spaces, and one of the most unique ceremony sites in Vail, it’s easy to see why this venue is such a favorite for couples planning a mountain wedding.
Their wedding day started nearby at the Grand Hyatt Vail, where they got ready surrounded by friends and family before heading to the ceremony site.
Ronnie and Eli chose the Grand Hyatt Vail as their getting-ready location, which is one of my favorite spots in Vail for wedding mornings. The property sits along Gore Creek, creating the perfect peaceful setting before a big day.
We did their first look along the creek, tucked into a quiet spot where they could share a moment together before everything officially began. It was such a sweet and emotional moment.
Ronnie looked absolutely stunning. Her gown featured sheer long sleeves and a perfectly tailored silhouette that fit her like a glove. With her hair slicked back into a bun and delicate pearl earrings, her whole look felt timeless and elegant.
Eli complemented her beautifully in a dark blue tux with black trim. Together they were a seriously stylish couple.
After the first look, we headed over to the Vail Nordic Center, where the wedding festivities continued. One of the things I love about this venue is the expansive open space, which makes it incredibly easy to photograph large wedding parties and family groups.
There’s plenty of room to move around and find beautiful mountain backdrops without feeling crowded. It’s such a photographer-friendly venue.
One of the most unique parts of getting married here is the ceremony location. Guests hop on golf carts and ride about a mile and a half from the clubhouse to reach the ceremony site, often called Wedding Island.
The ceremony overlooks a peaceful lake with a mountain backdrop that truly feels like classic Colorado.
Here’s a little photographer nerd moment: the ceremony space has natural brown earth rather than bright green grass. That might sound like a small detail, but it actually makes a huge difference in photos.
Bright green grass can reflect subtle green tones onto skin, but the neutral earth tones at this ceremony site act like a natural color balance. The result is incredibly flattering light and images where the couple pops beautifully against the mountain background.
It’s one of the reasons photos from this ceremony spot look so striking.
This wedding was beautifully coordinated by Jillian Jensen Events, who is always wonderful to work with. A great planner makes such a difference in keeping the day flowing smoothly, especially with transportation between locations at venues like this.
After the ceremony, guests returned to the Vail Golf & Nordic Clubhouse for the reception. The main reception room inside the clubhouse features floor-to-ceiling windows, which is one of the biggest reasons couples fall in love with this venue.
The glass walls allow the mountain views to become part of the celebration.
Ronnie and Eli shared their first dance and parent dances while there was still a little daylight left outside, which meant the stunning scenery was still visible through those massive windows.
Earlier in the evening we snuck out for golden hour portraits. A light rain was coming and going, so we stayed close to the clubhouse to keep Ronnie’s dress clean.
Our strategy was simple: Ronnie would hold my umbrella while we walked a few steps, then she’d drop the umbrella for a few quick photos before we repeated the process.
Even with unpredictable mountain weather, the photos turned out beautifully. It’s a great reminder that a little rain doesn’t ruin wedding portraits—it often makes them even more romantic.
Before the dance floor really got going, Ronnie changed into a shorter dress so she could move more easily. It was such a fun transition into the party portion of the evening, and everyone was ready to celebrate.
Ronnie and Eli’s day was a perfect example of why couples love to have a Vail Golf and Nordic Clubhouse wedding. From the lakeside ceremony to the glass-walled reception space and incredible mountain views, it’s truly one of the most scenic wedding venues in Vail.
If you’re exploring wedding venues in the Vail area, this is definitely one to add to your list.
