If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve probably heard the term looksmaxxing. In the bridal world, this really just means following a smart wedding beauty timeline so everything from Botox to spray tans looks perfect on your big day.
When it comes to weddings, timing matters a lot. As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen brides following a strict beauty schedule that helps ease their wedding anxiety. I’ve also seen last-minute beauty treatments cause brides lots of stress on the big day.
The good news? With a simple timeline, you can avoid all of that.
Here’s a realistic bridal looksmaxxing schedule so everything looks natural and polished on your wedding day.
This is when you want to focus on long-term improvements rather than quick fixes.
Things to start:
Professional skincare routine
Hair health treatments
Months before my own wedding I started to panic when my hair began falling out. Bloodwork confirmed it was thyroid-related. I was given medication by my doctor and by the time our wedding rolled around my hair was THICK. These things take time to work, so the earlier the better.
If you’ve never had Botox before and you’re considering it for your wedding, do not wait until right before the wedding.
Botox takes about 10–14 days to fully settle, and occasionally it needs small adjustments.
Doing a trial this far out lets you:
See how your face responds
Adjust dosage if needed
Make sure you like the look
This is especially important for:
Forehead lines
11 lines between brows
Crow’s feet
A natural Botox result should look soft and refreshed, not frozen. Shoutout to my injector Kendall, at Belén Aesthetics for always helping me feel my best!

If you plan to get filler (lips, cheeks, chin, etc.), this is the safest window.
Why?
Filler can sometimes cause:
swelling
asymmetry
bruising
migration
Even when done well, it may take several weeks to fully settle.
Doing it months in advance ensures everything looks completely natural in photos.
If you’re changing your hair color, do it now so you have time to adjust.
Examples:
Going lighter
Adding extensions
Major haircut changes
You want time to tweak things, not panic two weeks before the wedding. I’m happy to shout out my hair stylist! I found Elle at Billy Salon after I chopped my hair completely off and she saved the day with extensions. I no longer have extensions but Elle is the queen of a great cut and color too!
This is when estheticians often recommend a facial series.
Good options:
Hydrating facials
Gentle peels
Dermaplaning
Avoid aggressive treatments like deep chemical peels or lasers unless recommended by a professional far in advance.
If you loved your Botox trial, this is the ideal time for your final treatment.
Why 4–6 weeks?
It allows time for:
full settling
tiny adjustments if needed
the most natural look in photos
This is one of the biggest mistakes I see brides make — getting Botox too close to the wedding and then stressing about how it looks.
If you’re planning a spray tan, always do a trial first. Some brides love it; others prefer their natural tone.
Your photographer will thank you for avoiding the classic orange or streaky situation.
Perfect time for:
Professional teeth whitening
Brow shaping or threading
Lash lift or extensions
This gives your skin and brows time to calm down if there’s any redness.
Now is the time for:
Bikini wax
Lip or brow wax
Hydrating facial
Dermaplaning
Doing it a few days before avoids redness on the wedding day.
This is when to do:
Manicure
Pedicure
Spray tan
Elle at Billy Salon does spray tans as well! You can also try Golden Hour Airbrush Tanning.
The night before your wedding is not the time for new products or treatments.
Stick to:
Hydration
Gentle skincare
Good sleep
One thing brides sometimes ask me is whether I can fix beauty treatments in photos.
Things like:
inflammation from filler
frozen Botox brows
bad spray tans
Unfortunately, those are impossible to correct in editing. The best approach is simply timing everything correctly, so you look like the most polished version of yourself.
That’s it for the looksmaxxing wedding beauty timeline! Let me know if this helped.
