Earlier this month, I took a quick getaway to Phoenix, Arizona with my cousins—and it was everything I didn’t know I needed. We rented a house with a pool, soaked in the sun, and turned our weekend into an impromptu faux bachelorette party. It was carefree, joyful, and full of laughter—everything I love about photographing real bachelorette parties and wedding weekends.
But beyond the pool floats and girl time, I had one mission while we were in town: to visit the Desert Botanical Garden. For years, I’ve seen photos of this stunning cactus-filled landscape and imagined what it would be like to capture a wedding there. And now that I’ve walked its winding desert trails and taken in the blooming succulents and golden hour light for myself? I’m more in love than ever.
The Desert Botanical Garden is one of the most breathtaking venues I’ve ever visited. There’s something magical about the natural textures—the towering saguaros, delicate wildflowers, and the bold, earthy colors of the Sonoran Desert. It’s serene, sculptural, and full of character—exactly the kind of space where couples can create an unforgettable ceremony and stunning portraits. If you’re looking for Desert Botanical Garden wedding inspiration, this is your sign.
One of my favorite moments during our visit was stepping into the Butterfly Pavilion. I’m not sure if it’s a seasonal feature or a permanent exhibit, but it was absolutely magical. Before you go in, they give you a little briefing—explaining how butterflies are drawn to warmth and even to the minerals in the concrete, which means you have to watch your step because they’re not just fluttering around—they’re resting right on the ground too. The whole experience is carefully protected with a triple-door system, where staff check each visitor before you enter or exit to make sure none of the butterflies sneak out. It felt like entering a secret garden inside the garden itself. Gentle, colorful, and peaceful—it was a total highlight for me.
While I haven’t had the chance to photograph a wedding there *yet*, I’m putting it out into the universe: I would LOVE to! In fact, I’m offering a special rate to the first couple who books me for their Desert Botanical Garden wedding. If you’re planning something intimate, modern, and surrounded by natural beauty—I want to be there to capture every cactus-shadowed kiss and sun-drenched vow.
During our trip, I brought my camera along (of course) and snapped some portraits of me and my cousins among the gardens. I also couldn’t help photographing some of the details—blooming aloe, layered agave, the way the light filters through the desert trees. Scroll through the gallery below for a little Desert Botanical Garden wedding inspiration and just imagine a bride and groom standing in that same soft light. Unreal.
So if you’re dreaming of a desert wedding that feels both elegant and wild—let’s talk. Whether you’re planning a full wedding day, a micro-wedding, or even just a pre-wedding portrait session in Phoenix, I’d love to help you bring it to life.
