When B & D invited me to photograph their Martis Camp wedding, I knew it would be extraordinary, but it exceeded my expectations. Nestled in the heart of Lake Tahoe’s exclusive Martis Valley, Martis Camp is a 2,177‑acre private ski‑and‑golf community, you can only hold your wedding there if you own a home on property. For B & D, that meant their ceremony, from start to finish, was set in a place most can only dream of.
The day began in the privacy of their Martis Camp home. B + D opted to skip the typical first look, choosing instead to help each other get ready—a choice that brought out authentic smiles, moments of quiet support, and a real sense of intimacy. Being welcomed into their home set a warm, human tone for the rest of the day.
Their ceremony took place outside Camp Lodge—an amenity centerpiece at Martis Camp, overlooking manicured fairways and soaring Sierra peaks. The floral design was nothing short of spectacular: creative, abundant, and executed with such precision that I still can’t stop thinking about it. As clouds moved in overhead, the colors popped even more—truly a photographer’s dream.
Following vows, the celebration moved to the brand new Camp Hall, an expansion to the classic Family Barn. Opened in late 2024, this stunning 10,300 sq ft venue features an elegant lakeside terrace and views that frame sunset perfectly. With its blend of rustic charm and modern design, Camp Hall was the perfect backdrop for the cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing—every frame looked effortlessly editorial.
One highlight of the day was collaborating with Kyleigh at Audere Events and Golden Fields Floristry. Kyleigh’s planning created seamless moments—from pups during prep to the shift between venues—and Golden Fields Floristry delivered unprecedented floral creativity. These blooms weren’t just decor; they were storytellers.
Martis Camp isn’t just picturesque—it’s exclusive. Since weddings are restricted to homeowners only, every event feels ultra‑private, intentional, and intimate. It’s a rarity to shoot in a venue that feels simultaneously personal and resort‑level luxe.
Shooting B + D’s wedding was a highlight of my year. From their decision to skip the conventional first look to the soaring florals, to working alongside an exceptional vendor team, it felt fresh—a true departure from ordinary. Martis Camp in full swing is something special: rare, breathtaking, and full of life. I can’t wait to return for another wedding in this unparalleled Lake Tahoe oasis.
